PYT’s Monthly Master Classes

As part of PYT’s Pre-Professional curriculum, we feel it’s important to expose our young actors to a variety of topics that pertain to musical theater (and the wide world of performing arts, at large). We take full advantage of our proximity to NYC and our faculty’s extensive professional networks to bring incredible guest teaching artists out to PYT. Our Director of Master Class Programming, Ms. Laura Stracko, takes special care in curating this series to ensure that our students are growing as artists.

On the final Sunday that we have classes each month, join us for a unique Master Class! Students enrolled in our Pre-Professional Acting program will enjoy these special events at no additional charge. Those not enrolled may sign up on a per-class basis. Please scroll down for pricing.

About This Month’s Guest Teaching Artist

Michael Simon Hall - known to his students as “Mr. Mike” - has been working in professional theater since he was a teenager. He started out as an actor, singer and dancer, and eventually also became a writer, choreographer, director and producer. Appearing in four Broadway, national, and international tours, several solo shows, regional and NYC productions, including his own plays, and concerts at Carnegie Hall, Town Hall, Symphony Space and Lincoln Center, his recent performances include playing the mean Professor Callahan in Legally Blonde, the drama American Son at Irish Repertory Theatre NYC, and creating Alfred Pennyworth, Batman’s best friend, in the first ever live Bruce Wayne Experience in NYC. He’s also appeared on screen in HBO’s Golden Globe/Emmy/SAG Award winning I Know This Much is True, The Deuce, The Politician and many others, acting opposite household names. Michael is currently the lead producer and director of the new musical comedy, The Ironworkers’ Hayride, coming to Off-Broadway, written by six-time Emmy Award-winning composer, Lanny Meyers, and Pulitzer Award-winning author, Robert Olen Butler. In between his performing, writing, directing and producing, Michael loves working with young people who have an interest in the arts. “Mr. Mike” focuses on developing skills and discipline, while also strengthening the self-confidence to never stop being your unique self.
