POLICIES
TECHNIQUE CLASS REQUIRMENT:
All students must be concurrently enrolled in at least one technique class at PYT (acting, vocals, or dance through our sister program, The Dance Loft) in order to participate in one of our musicals.
Students who do not enroll in a technique class at the beginning of the semester but do enroll in one of our musicals will be automatically enrolled in the age-appropriate Pre-Professional acting class. Students who wish to transfer to a different type of technique class (vocals or dance) may do so if there is space in class. Please reach out to office management at pyt.assistant@gmail.com to make any changes.
MAKE-UP CLASS POLICY:
Students may make up any missed group classes in another age-appropriate technique class at PYT or The Dance Loft. For instance, if a child misses her acting class, she is welcome to make up the class in Group Vocals or in a variety of dance classes at any time throughout the 2025/26 school year session. Please email pyt.assistant@gmail.com to set up a make-up class.
Private lessons must be canceled with 24 hours' notice given to the instructor. Provided that sufficient notice is given, students are welcome to make up lessons either with their instructor if there is availability or via a virtual lesson with Ms. Laura Stracko who is available for both vocal and acting private lessons. Make-up lessons must take place during the 2025/26 school-year session. Lessons cancelled last-minute will be forfeited and cannot be made up unless there is a documented medical emergency.
ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT:
Students participating in our musicals are expected to attend at least 80% of all Sunday rehearsals and technique classes. Tech week rehearsals are mandatory, and any known conflicts with tech week rehearsals must be reported at the beginning of the semester so we can make any necessary adjustments to the schedule in advance. Performances are strictly mandatory.
CASTING POLICY:
All casting decisions at PYT are final, and while we are always happy to provide feedback to a student who may have questions, as a policy we do not discuss casting decisions with parents in order to maintain the integrity of the process.
PHONE/DEVICE-FREE SPACE:
In order to aid in our students’ focus and creativity, PYT is a cell phone and device-free space. Upon arrival, students with phones, smart watches, and tablets will be asked to put them in a holding area where they will be kept secure throughout the day. If students need to use their phone for a specific task (i.e. rehearsing on their own with a track prior to auditions) they will be provided access as needed. If parents need to get in touch with their child, please email proyouththeatre@gmail.com and we will connect you.
PAYMENT POLICY:
Parents are required to enroll in Auto-Pay which will run at the beginning of each month. All fees will be reported with transparency on our Parent Portal. In the case of an expired credit card, we will reach out to inform parents who will then have 30 days to provide new credit card information. Enrollment will be paused for students with bills that are more than 30 days delinquent. Any questions about billing should be directed to office management at pyt.assistant@gmail.com.
ANTI-DISCRIMINATION POLICY:
PYT is an inclusive environment, and discrimination of any sort will not be tolerated. Students exhibiting behavior that is violent or derogatory will be dismissed from the program.
